Summary:This work describes a system based on a web application that allows the remote execution of IEC 61499 function blocks using the input parameters entered by a user in the web interface. The results obtained from executing the function block are sent to the field device using simple communication interfaces. The system is developed based on a hierarchical architecture that defines the components interconnections, their functions and communication patterns for the information exchange. An evaluation of the implemented prototype is also presented.
