Abstract According to the requirement of automatic observation of 3D deformation of Large Arch Dam, the chain structure of measurement system is designed in this paper, the three-dimensional displacement of each measuring point can be derived. A photoelectric transceiver integrated two-dimensional measuring device for lateral displacement is designed and developed. According to the structure of chain measurement and the working principle of two-dimensional measurement unit, a set of equations with sensor readings as independent variables is established. The preliminary experimental results show that the calculation model can meet the requirements of measurement accuracy.
