Zusammenfassung:Based on a wide range of sources of official and personal origin, the article examines the history of the Cherepovets Prisoner-of-War Camp no. 158 The author reveals the stages of the camp’s activities, starting with screening of Soviet military men who had been in German captivity or encirclement and ending with the labor use of prisoners of war of the German army and their allies. The article provides data on the location and industrial specialization of subcamps as well as the numbers and composition of prisoners of war and camp personnel. The study reveals the important role of the camp in the evacuation of prisoners of war from the fronts, the organization of their labor use, and the contribution to the development of the economy and transport infrastructure of Vologda Oblast.
