| Abstract | Der Artikel thematisiert die Ziele der Mittelschulreform in der Zwischenkriegszeit nach dem Ersten Wektkrieg in der Ersten Tschechoslowakischen Republik. Die Aufmerksamkeit bezieht sich auf zwei Hauptfragen der Schulreform: auf die soziale und die pädagogische Problematik der Mittelschulreformdiskussion. Die Studie zeigt, dass die Gründung der sogenannten einheitlichen Mittelschule sowohl in der politischen als auch in der fachlichen Gemeinschaft nicht durchgesetzt wurde. Als Ergebnis zeigt sich eine Annäherung der Studienpläne jeweiliger Mittelschultypen. Im zweiten Teil befasst sich der Artikel mit den Mittelschulreformplänen nach 1929, als das Schulreformleben stark intensiviert wurde. 1929 ergab sich als einziger durchsetzbarer Kompromiss der Reformphase eine starke Annäherung von Studienplänen verschiedener Mittelschultypen für die ersten zwei Schuljahre der Sekundarstufe I. Daraus entstand eine einheitliche zweijährige Stufe. Sie gab den Schülern die Möglichkeit, den Ausbildungsweg auf ein höheres Schüleralter zu verschieben und den Mittelschultyp bzw. die Bürgerschule bis zu ihrem 12. Lebensjahr zu nutzen. Es wurde auch das pädagogische Leben in der Mittelschule reformiert. Unterstützt wurden die Lernmethoden und Lernprozesse, die sich auf die Ideen der progressiven Pädagogik, des aktiven Lernens "learning by doing", auf die Ergebnisse von quantitativen pädagogischen Forschungen oder auf die Ideen des demokratischen Schulgemeinschaftslebens stützten. This article analyses the school reform during the interwar period in Czechoslovakia after the First World War and its two basics: educational and socio-political components. The result was, that the need of the so-called "unified secondary school" remained largely unattended by the political and academic professional community. Instead, the reform in that period brought together various types of secondary schools only at the level of curriculum. The second part of this article explores the events after 1929, when the curriculum of the first two grades of lower secondary schools were unified along with the reform of internal life of schools. Specifically, there was a significant strengthening of teaching methods based on the learning-by-doing approach, on the progressive pedagogy, on the scientific results of quantitative research, as well as on the idea of democratic coexistence at the secondary level of education.
