Description
Summary:Chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CCLE) lesions often present as typical forms ; erythematous patches and infiltrated coin-shaped plaques that are pink to violaceous in color. However, more than 20 other rare clinical presentations have been described in the literature. One of these rare presentations is acneiform lesions, perhaps one of the most important to recognize because they can readily be mistaken for acne vulgaris, which is one of the most common dermatological conditions. We present a rare case of acneiform CCLE that was misdiagnosed and treated as acne vulgaris for over 20 years, ultimately presenting to our clinic with acne scars.
