| Abstract | A local defect method used to perform local zoom computations within the framework of the steady-state two-phase flow simulations of pressurized water reactor (PWR) steam generators is described. The particular local defect correction (LDC) formulation used, jointly with the finite-element method (FEM), a projection algorithm, and the Crank-Nicholson scheme for nonlinear averaged mixture balance equations, is discussed, as well as the particular geometry involved (3-D local hierarchical multigrid). In the case of vortices located at an inner interface, the boundary conditions are dynamically managed in an approach "à la adaptive Dirichlet Neumann." Cluster workstations, using a master-slaves context (through a code linker) and the PVM package, are used. Results concerning the simulation of a mock-up are provided. The parallel and sequential LDC computation results are compared with the results of classical full-domain computations. The conclusion describes the improvements in the accuracy of the corrected region and on the coherence between the zoom and the full domain. |
