These languages make parallelism easy by avoiding the low-level constructs that result from a too direct translation of machine hardware into programmer's language Huntbach and Ringwood survey concurrent logic languages, which expand Prolog by dropping its built-in sequential search order. These languages make parallelism easy by avoiding the low-level constructs that result from a too-direct translation of machine hardware into programmer's language. Concurrent logic-programming languages are an amalgam of Prolog and CSP. Their designers have made compromises between expressiveness, ease of implementation, and efficiency. In this paper, the range techniques available in the most commonly used concurrent logic languages are analyzed. These languages make parallelism easy because they posses none of the low-level constructs that are an all-too-direct translation of machine hardware into programmer's language. In many ways, concurrent logic languages do for concurrent programming what the first high-level languages did for sequential programming. |
