Bifunctional NiMo/HY-γ-Al2O3 catalysts for an effective production of ultra-low sulfur diesel

A series of hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of NiMo supported on HY zeolites and γ-Al2O3 (NiMo/HY-γ-Al2O3) have been prepared. The appropriate amount of HY zeolites and HNO3 were necessary to optimize the textural properties and acidity of the catalysts, allowing deep hydrodesulfurization. Moreover, the...

Shrnutí:A series of hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of NiMo supported on HY zeolites and γ-Al2O3 (NiMo/HY-γ-Al2O3) have been prepared. The appropriate amount of HY zeolites and HNO3 were necessary to optimize the textural properties and acidity of the catalysts, allowing deep hydrodesulfurization. Moreover, the best catalyst could significantly reduce the concentrations of dibenzothiophene (DBT) and 4,6-dimethyl dibenzothiophene (4,6-DMDBT) to 8.20 ppm (from 2000 ppm) and 5.28 ppm (from 260 ppm), respectively. It could also accelerate the kinetics as indicated by the enhanced rate constants of DBT (∼3–4 times) and 4,6-DMDBT (∼1.5–2.5 times) hydrodesulfurization compared to catalyst without HY zeolites.
