Abstract The proportion of patients with endocrine system pathology is constantly increasing in all economically developed countries of the world. About 8% of the population of the Republic of Belarus has endocrine pathology, in addition to being overweight and obese. Every day, doctors of various specialties encounter patients with endocrinopathies. In many cases, to determine the dysfunction of an endocrine organ and the level of its regulation disorder, it is sufficient to determine the basal level of the hormone and its regulatory factor. At the same time, these studies are not always sufficient for an accurate assessment of the functional state of individual endocrine organs, which requires special functional tests. These tests in endocrinological practice are a mandatory part of laboratory verification of diseases of the endocrine system. Functional tests (stimulation and suppression) are based on the feedback mechanism in the hypothalamus-pituitaryperipheral endocrine gland system. Test options are also possible in the presence of an extra-pituitary regulatory factor. Functional tests can help prevent diagnostic errors, more accurately establish a diagnosis in case of endocrine system pathology and prescribe adequate treatment according to clinical protocols.
