| Abstract | Akademiese sukses word deur verskeie faktore bei'nvloed, onder andere sosio-ekonomiese faktore, opvoedkundige milieu, motivering, selfkonsep, fase van intellektuele ontwikkeling, studiemetodes, persoonlikheid en leerstyle. Die aard van die onderrigproses het ook verreikende implikasies vir suksesvolle leer. Die uitsluitlike aanwending van die dosentgesentreerde lesing as enigste onderrigmetode is nie 'n waarborg dat studente maksimaal sal leer nie. In hierdie artikel word 'n pleidooi vir die aanvulling van die grammatikaperiode deur die implementering van studentgerigte ervaringsleer gelewer. Ervaringsgerigte metodes word omskiyf en gedefinieer. Daarop volg 'n uiteensetting van die voordele van ervaringsleer asook die besware daarteen. Ter afsluiting word voorbeelde van ervaringsleer tydens die grammatikaperiode in die Afrikatale voorsien. |
