Description
Summary:Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation has become the standard method for cataract extraction regardless of its etiology. In modern phaco surgery, implantation of multifocal IOLs is considered the most advanced method for correcting aphakia following lens extraction. The wide range of available multifocal IOLs is promoting the ongoing discussion regarding the advantages of each type, as well as potential strategies for optimizing surgical outcomes. This literature review presents current methods for improving the performance of various types of multifocal and extended depth of focus IOLs.
