Description: Most of the play projects on which Stendhal worked between 1802 and 1804, and in particular the two most accomplished, Les Deux hommes and Letellier, have a link with contemporary history, from the revolutionary period to the beginnings of the Empire: he in fact retains the revolutionary ideal of the theatre as a “citizen’s school” which should lead the public to fight against all despotism.
