Description: This paper introduces the concept of the Imagination Processing Unit (IPU), a psycho-computational framework designed to measure and upgrade subjective experiences of imagination across sensory modalities. The IPU builds upon the foundations of Simulative Realization (SR) and Recursive Psyche Improvement (RψI), framing imagination as a form of proxy computation that operates within both placebo-likeand agentic contexts. The paper proposes quantifiable dimensions of imaginative pro-cessing: frame rate, resolution, persistence, and willpower rate. It also relates theseto established traditions in recursive self-improvement and synthetic intelli-gence. As a worked example, the cultural benchmark of running DOOM is reinter-preted through the IPU, showing how an individual can instantiate the game entirelywithin imagination, demonstrating SR in action. The article consolidates the author’sprior contributions with supporting work on recursive self-improvement, synthetic intelligence, and cognitive architectures.
