Description: Introduction. The article is devoted to the analysis of assertiveness as a person's ability not to be influenced by current influxes and assessments, to independently regulate and respond to authoritarian behavior. It is emphasized that an assertive person is distinguished by a high level of motivation to achieve success, which is manifested in a persistent need to achieve high results in any matter, in the desire to do work quickly, qualitatively and at a high level. These features, in particular, can be generalized and manifest in any situation, regardless of the nature of the situation. The direct manifestation of assertiveness indicates a person's value orientations. Purpose. The purpose of the article is a scientific and theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of assertiveness and its features from a historical point of view. The tasks of the article are: to analyze scientific approaches to the development of the problem of assertiveness in the literature, to characterize the assertiveness of the personality, to identify the features of the assertive type of behavioural. Methods. To achieve the aim and objectives of the article, a comparative critical analysis of modern scientific literature was used, allowing us to define the concept of "assertiveness", the criteria for the formation of assertiveness, as well as parallels with the concept of "full life". Originality. The article considers assertiveness as an integral quality of personality, on which a person's ability to achieve success in life largely depends. It is one of the main properties associated with a purposeful, self-reliant, independent, proactive, persistent, demanding, decisive, "punching", confident personality type. It is noted that the justification for the need to develop assertiveness in a person was first presented in the theory of the American psychologist A. Salter, who used the concept of assertiveness in patient behavior training and considered assertive behavior as the optimal, most constructive way of interpersonal interaction, worldview in general, as opposed to the two most destructive methods - manipulation and aggression. It has been established that an assertive personality is characterized by: autonomy, purposefulness, independence, initiative, perseverance, determination, self-confidence, responsibility, demandingness of oneself and others, the ability to empathy, reflection, which are structural components of assertiveness. It is noted that the criteria for the formation of assertiveness are: personal, cognitive, emotional-value, behavioral. Each of the above criteria is manifested in a set of quantitative and qualitative indicators. Quantitative indicators contain information about the number of points scored according to the results of the test-diagnostics of personality properties that characterize assertiveness. Qualitative indicators of assertiveness allow us to judge the depth of its personal development (from a developed ability to a low level, expressed in the inability to demonstrate assertive behavioural). Conclusion. Assertiveness is a personal quality necessary for successful activity, which is especially important in modern socio-economic conditions, when success depends on a person's determination, activity, self-confidence, openness, initiative, perseverance, and energy. Assertiveness is a relatively new concept in psychology, it comes from the English word "assertive", which means positive or excessively persistent, self-confident, persistent. In domestic psychology, assertiveness is perceived as a quality of personality, as an integral characteristic of human activity. Currently, psychological science does not yet have a well-established idea of the content of this concept. In this regard, its analysis based on philosophical and psychological concepts of personality, its properties, activity in various types of activity, communication, and cognition is relevant. Typically, assertiveness is considered in comparison with two other forms of behavior: passive, when a person does not show proper social activity, which leads to the destruction of their relationships with the external and internal world; and aggressive, when these destructions occur of their own free will, intentionally. The concept of "assertive behavior" reflects such personal qualities as self-confidence, initiative, purposefulness, determination, perseverance, tolerance, independence in judgments, self-control, independence, independence, openness to new experience. If we draw parallels with the previously considered personal qualities that are necessary for a full life, we can state that they are identical, they correspond to the expectations of researchers for subjects who can transform their lives to the level of "full-fledged".
