| Popis: | Bien que performant, le système de santé suisse génère 6,7 % des émissions nationales de gaz à effet de serre. À Genève, notre étude a évalué pour la première fois son empreinte carbone à 436 831 tCO2e en 2022. Les hôpitaux (47 %) et les médicaments (58,6 %) en sont les principaux acteurs et sources d’émissions. Divers scénarios, incluant la promotion de la santé et la prévention, soulignent l’importance de mesures directes et indirectes pour réduire ces émissions de 70 % d’ici 2040. Ces approches sont adaptables aux autres systèmes de santé cantonaux. Although highly efficient, the Swiss healthcare system accounts for 6.7% of the country's greenhouse gas emissions. In Geneva, our study assessed its carbon footprint for the first time, estimating it at 436,831 tCO2e in 2022. Hospitals (47%) and medications (58.6%) are the main factors and sources of these emissions. Various scenarios, including health promotion and prevention, underscore the importance of direct and indirect measures to cut these emissions by 70% by 2040. These approaches are adaptable to other cantonal healthcare systems. |
