| Popis: | The monograph Physical Geography of Croatia, The Natural-Geographical Basis of Development, is the second book in a series of comprehensive works on the Great Geography of Croatia. On more than 700 pages, this representative publication deals with the natural and geographical features of the Republic of Croatia, from the geological structure and seismic phenomena, through relief, climate, water and soil, to the features of the living world. Numerous changes were considered and the important processes that determine the geomorphological features of the land and the sea, the climatic specificities of certain areas, and the importance of the Adriatic Sea and the inland waters of the Danube basin and the Adriatic basin as essential components of the natural basis, crucial for life, were discussed. The distribution and importance of soil, one of the most important assumptions for the survival of the human community, as well as the geographical basis of plant and animal life, their distribution and diversity, were especially clarified, and the natural components were also considered from an ecogeographic point of view. A group of distinguished authors presents to the public, scientific and general, facts about the physical-geographical basis and, in connection with it, processes and changes particularly important for the shaping of the landscape, distribution of the population, spatial planning and economic and general social development. Based on exhaustive of scientific knowledge and literature, this capital work provides basic facts about the natural and geographical components of Croatia, and an exhaustive index of geographical names helps readers to get closer to the terms and structure. Monografija Fizička geografija Hrvatske, prirodno-geografska osnova razvoja, druga je knjiga u nizu sveobuhvatnog opusa Velike geografije Hrvatske. Ovo reprezentativno izdavačko ostvarenje na više od 700 stranica obrađuje prirodno-zemljopisna obilježja prostora Republike Hrvatske, od geološke građe i seizmičkih pojava, preko reljefa, klime, voda i tla, do obilježja živog svijeta.
