| Beschreibung: | The aim of this research study was to gain an insight into the daily life of elderly people (65+ years) living in a single household during the COVID-19 pandemic by examining the changes they experienced and subsequent adaptation factors. Qualitative research was conducted with nine elderly people using the semi-structured interview method. The data collected were processed using the thematic analysis procedure. According to the results obtained, elderly people living alone experienced changes in: economic conditions, physical and mental health, social relationships, and daily activities. The factors that contributed to the adaptation of the elderly to the COVID-19 pandemic were: previous life experience, religiosity, and social support. Based on these results, we must consider this pandemic as a learning opportunity where older people can aim to increase their ability to face future challenges. The results indicate heterogeneity among elderly people living alone with regard to the changes they experienced and the ways in which they adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic. |
