| Popis: | This article explores spirituality as an inner compass that sustains personal resilience, professional ethics, and human dignity in the context of contemporary medical practice. Drawing on autobiographical reflection and scholarly perspectives, I argue that spirituality transcends religious affiliation and emerges as an internal life force that enables meaning-making, ethical decision-making, and resilience in the face of suffering. For a surgeon, spirituality becomes indispensable: it balances technical competence with empathy, sustains motivation in difficult circumstances, and offers a framework for integrating both success and failure into personal growth. I situate my reflections within broader philosophical and psychological understandings of spirituality, arguing that spirituality is not an optional “add-on” but an essential dimension of human flourishing and professional integrity. |
