Popis: The aim of this study was to examine whether there is a relationship between attitudes towards physical activity and knowledge of health-related fitness among elementary school physical education teachers. Teaching fitness at the elementary level plays a crucial role in preventing lifestyle-related diseases, which become harder to avoid as people grow older. Therefore, promoting physical fitness education in younger students is essential, along with fostering positive attitudes (Sander & Burton, 1989). The study employed a descriptive survey method, using two questionnaires for data collection: one assessing teachers' attitudes towards physical activity and physical fitness, and the other measuring their physical fitness knowledge. The sample consisted of 120 elementary school physical education teachers (90 male and 30 female), selected through simple random sampling. The results indicated no significant correlation between attitude towards physical activity and physical fitness knowledge among male teachers (p = 0.49) or female teachers (p = 0.85). Furthermore, when analyzed based on teaching experience, no significant correlation was found in teachers with 0–5 years of experience (p = 0.195), 6–10 years of experience (p = 0.852), or more than 11 years of experience (p = 0.716). The study concluded that there is no significant relationship between attitudes toward physical activity and physical fitness knowledge among elementary school physical education teachers, regardless of gender or teaching experience, in Pune city.
