Popis: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of STEM activities on academic success in science course related to electrical energy unit, scientific process skills, science attitudes and STEM attitudes of the 7th grade students. In the study; the Pre-test and Post-test with control group experimental design was used. The study group consist of 85 students in a secondary school in the Bursa in the 2016-2017 academic year. Teaching groups were formed on this basis and this two groups were divided into experimental (n:42) and control (n:43) groups. While the control group students were taught with the teaching methods based on the current Science curriculum, the experimental group was used with the design of the STEM education integrated with the 5E model. SPSS program was used for the statistical analysis of quantitative data and the frequency-percentage values were calculated with content analysis for analyzing the qualitative data.According to the results of the study; pre-test scores of groups that are equivalent, while there is a significant difference between the post test scores of the Electric Energy Success Test based on the favor of the experimental group. It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference between the post test scores of the Scientific Process Skills Test and Attitude Scale towards Science. And STEM Attitude Scale and STEM Attitude Engineering sub-dimension scores were found to be statistically significant in favor of the experimental group.According to the results of persistence tests performed one year after the study; there was no statistically significant difference in STEM attitude scale and sub-dimensions, but it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference in favor of the experimental group according to the scores obtained from Electrical Energy Achievement Test. And finally, according to experimental group qualitative data; stated that they enjoyed activities, increased their knowledge, learned the program, increased their interest in the course, they could choose engineering as a profession in the future and they would like to work with STEM education in other courses.
Bu çalışmanın amacı STEM etkinliklerinin 7. sınıf öğrencilerinin bilimsel süreç becerilerine, fen ve STEM tutumlarına ve elektrik enerjisi ünitesindeki başarılarına etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmada karma yöntem kullanılmış ve nicel kısımda öntest-sontest kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubu 2016-2017 eğitim öğretim yılında Bursa ilinde bulunan bir imam-hatip ortaokulunda öğrenim gören 42 deney, 43 kontrol grubu olmak üzere 85 7. Sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada, araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan ders planları kullanılmıştır. Kontrol grubu öğrencilerine öğretim mevcut Fen Bilimleri öğretim programına dayalı öğretim uygulamaları ile gerçekleştirilirken, deney grubu öğrencilerine STEM etkinliklerinin 5E modeli ile bütünleştirildiği tasarım ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada nicel verilerin istatistiksel çözümleri için SPSS programı kullanılmış, nitel veriler ise içerik analizi ile analiz edilerek kategori ve alt kategoriler bulunmuştur. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre; ön test puanları denk olan grupların; Elektrik Enerjisi Başarı Testi son test puanları arasında deney grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olduğu, Bilimsel Süreç Becerileri Testi son test puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farkın olmadığı, Fene Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği son test puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farkın olmadığı, STEM Tutum Ölçeği ve STEM Tutum Mühendislik alt boyutu son test puanları arasında deney grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olduğu belirlenmiştir. Çalışmadan bir yıl sonra uygulanan kalıcılık testleri sonuçlara göre; STEM tutum ölçeği ve alt boyutları açısından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılığın olmadığı fakat elektrik enerjisi başarı testinden alınan puanlara göre deney grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılığın olduğu belirlenmiştir. Deney grubu nitel verilerine göre; etkinliklerden keyif aldıklarını, bilgilerinin arttığını, programla öğrendiklerini, derse yönelik ilgilerinin arttığını, gelecekte meslek olarak mühendisliği seçebileceklerini ve başka dersleri de STEM etkinlikleri ile işlemek istediklerini belirtmişlerdir.
