Description: It is obvious that in the modern Western world, democracy does not have those idealistic features that were described by the historians and philosophers of antiquity and the Enlightenment. Today, we have every right to say that such a social institution as the press has absolutely lost one of the fundamental democratic principles - freedom. In the political media discourse, one is likely to come across the absence of other principles of democracy, so the purpose of this article is to study the peculiarities of the political media discourse, which reveal the crisis of “democracy” as a system of state power. The “crisis of democracy” in the media discourse is seen as a violation of the basic principles of democracy and replacing them with the principles of authoritarian or totalitarian regimes.
В статье на материале электронных СМИ Великобритании, Соединенных Штатов и Канады рассматривается "кризис демократии" как нарушение основных принципов демократии и замена их на принципы тоталитарных режимов.
