Title: An application of perturbation theory for linear operators. Sensitivity analysis of Leslie matrix models
Authors: Chen, Kewei
Publisher Information: Society of Biomathematics of China, Liaoning; Science Press, Beijing
Subject Terms: numerical example, Population dynamics (general), sensitivity analysis of Leslie matrix models, Perturbation theory of linear operators, Basic linear algebra, environmental change, resolvent, age-structured biological population
Description: We give in this paper a formula calculating the finite rate of an age- structured biological population when all its age specific rates are disturbed. We also give a numerical example showing that it is possible, using our results, to determine whether or not an environmental change is favorable for the population. It was almost impossible to do so by other results obtained before in sensitivity analysis of Leslie matrix models. The resolvent of the Leslie matrix is obtained, too.
