Abstract (English): The book "Python Programming for Germanists" offers a step-by-step introduction to programming with Python, specifically tailored to the needs of Germanists without prior knowledge. It covers fundamental programming concepts, the processing of text data, regular expressions, simple modules, linguistically relevant analyses such as word and frequency lists, as well as working with web data and annotations (HTML, XML). Practical exercises with solutions promote independent learning, while the book’s clear structure and detailed explanations make it especially suitable for beginners. Although the focus is on written language, an extension to methods for analyzing spoken language is considered desirable. Overall, the work provides a didactically reflective introduction to Python for the Digital Humanities, which may also be of interest to linguists in general. [Extracted from the article]
[Extracted from the article]
