PT. Coalindo Adhi Perkasa or commonly called PT. CAP is a mining contractor service located in Palaran District, Samarinda City, East Kalimantan. PT. CAP is responsible for collecting cover material in the PT mining concession area. International Prime Coal. In mining activities, a survey is needed at the exploitation stage, namely to find out the progress of mining progress (mine progress) within the period set by the company. Measurement activities are carried out using survey equipment and then the data is processed with certain software, then the results of the calculation of the cutting out volume are used as a reference in volume control or payment for contractor company services. The overburden volume calculation is carried out to determine the amount of cutting out volume that has been obtained in a certain time. This study serves to determine the stages in conducting survey volume calculations using the cut and fill method and data collection in the field. However, there are obstacles that can occur causing inaccurate volume calculations, such as taking measurement points that are in puddles after rain which can only be done in the area around puddles which causes the elevation of the measurement point to be inaccurate. PT. Coalindo Adhi Perkasa atau biasa disebut PT. CAP merupakan salah satu jasa kontraktor penambangan yang berlokasi di Kecamatan Palaran, Kota Samarinda, Kalimantan Timur. PT. CAP bertanggung jawab untuk penggalian material overburden di area konsesi penambangan PT. International Prima Coal. Dalam kegiatan penambangan diperlukan tim Survey pada tahap eksploitasi yaitu guna mengetahui progres kemajuan tambang (mine progress) dalam kurun waktu yang telah ditetapkan oleh perusahaan. Kegiatan pengukuran dilakukan menggunakan peralatan Survey yang kemudian datanya diolah dengan software tertentu, untuk kemudian hasil perhitungan volume cutting out dijadikan sebagai acuan dalam kontrol volume atau pembayaran jasa perusahaan kontraktor. Perhitungan volume overburden dilakukan untuk mengetahui jumlah cutting out volume yang telah didapat dalam waktu tertentu. Penelitian ini berfungsi untuk mengetahui tahapan dalam melakukan perhitungan volume survey menggunakan metode cut and fill dan pengambilan data dilapangan. Namun terdapat kendala yang bisa terjadi sehingga menyebabkan perhitungan volume tidak akurat yaitu seperti pengambilan titik pengukuran yang berada pada genangan air setelah hujan hanya bisa dilakukan di area sekitar genangan yang menyebabkan elevasi titik pengukuran tidak akurat.
