| Abstract (English): | In Ecuador, through Subsecretaria de Investigación Científica, it encourages higher education institutions to develop research projects that help the country grow. Universities are the institutions that generate the greatest productivity of scientific knowledge. This paper presents a study on the use of programming software in scientific papers in Ecuadorian universities. The selected data source is the Red de Repositorios de Acceso Abierto del Ecuador. A total of 94 scientific papers are the result of the initial process of the search chain, inclusion and exclusion criteria were then applied, resulting in 54 scientific papers considered as a primary source of study. The scientific papers that use some type of programming software are quantified and qualified. It is presented that the most used programming languages are Java and Php. The most frequently used development environment is Matlab. The programming software is a tool that is currently very required to facilitate the obtaining of results. | Abstract (Spanish): | En el Ecuador, a través de la Subsecretaria de Investigación Científica incentiva a las instituciones de educación superior a desarrollar proyectos investigativos que ayuden al crecimiento del país. Las universidades son las instituciones que generan la mayor productividad de conocimiento científico. Este artículo presenta un estudio sobre el uso de software de programación en los ar- tículos científicos en las universidades ecuatorianas. La fuente de datos seleccionada es la Red de Repositorios de Acceso Abierto del Ecuador. Un total de 94 artículos científicos es el resultado del proceso inicial de la cadena de búsqueda, luego se aplicó criterio de inclusión y exclusión, dando como resultado 54 artículos científicos considerado como fuente primaria de estudio. Se logra cuantificar y cualificar los artículos científicos que usan un tipo de software de programación. Se presenta que los lenguajes de programación más utilizados son Java y Php. El entorno de desarrollo que usan con mayor frecuencia es Matlab. El software de programación es una herramienta que en la actualidad es muy requerida para facilitar la obtención de resultados.
