In recent times, the development speed of payment instruments has accelerated, partly thanks to the advancements in blockchain technologies. At the same time, speed, simplicity, and security have become more and more important expectations of users in the context of increasing e-commerce. The spread of cryptocurrencies also fits into these main trends, so the exploration of factors of cryptocurrency user acceptance has both theoretical and practical relevance. This study examines the factors influencing attitudes towards the use of a hypothetical social media cryptocurrency in the popular conceptual framework of the unified theory of technology acceptance and use (UTAUT). The partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) is a widely used tool for testing the UTAUT model, and the authors present an application of the consistent PLS method that best fits their research objectives and sample. A fizetőeszközök fejlődése részben az új blokklánc-technológiák népszerűbbé válásának következményeként az utóbbi évtizedben felgyorsult, és az egyre erősödő e-kereskedelmi aktivitás kontextusában fontos elvárássá vált velük szemben a gyorsaság, az egyszerűség és a biztonság. A kriptovaluták terjedése is ezen fő trendekhez illeszkedik, így mind elméleti, mind gyakorlati szempontból izgalmas kérdés, hogy milyen tényezők fogják meghatározni e téren a hazai felhasználók technológiaelfogadását. Jelen tanulmány a népszerű technológiaelfogadás és -használat egységesített elméletének (unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, UTAUT) fogalmi keretében vizsgálja azokat a tényezőket, amelyek egy lehetséges közösségi kriptovalutával kapcsolatos attitűdöt befolyásolják. Az UTAUT-modell tesztelésének széles körben elterjedt eszköze a varianciaalapú strukturális egyenletek módszere (partial least squares structural equation modelling, PLS1-SEM); a szerzők a kutatási célkitűzéseikhez és a mintához legjobban illeszkedő konzisztens PLS- (consistent PLS, PLSc) modell egy alkalmazási lehetőségét mutatják be.
